8 August 2022 MondayAlpaslan Yılmaz was born in Aksaray in 1975. After completing his primary, secondary and high school education in Çorum, he graduated from Gazi University Industrial Engineering. His acquaintance with the paper and corrugated cardboard industry began with his internships in 1997 and 1998. Yılmaz started his career in 2000 as a planning engineer at the Çorum factory of DS Smith Çopikas and worked as a planning manager at Çopikas Çorlu Factory 2 years later, then continued to work as Planning Manager, Production Manager, Supply Chain Manager in different Factories in the same industry. He started to work as the Operations Director at Onurcan Ambalaj in August 2019 and still carries out this duty.
Sharing his thoughts on the industry, Yılmaz said, "There was an atmosphere of panic at the beginning of the pandemic and the effects of the pandemic began to be felt more as time progressed. Most industry had difficulty in accessing raw materials, and even if they did, they faced serious price increases. There were problems in logistics, the need for a capital increase emerged due to price increases. The supply chains were adversely affected by the pandemic, regardless of the industry. The important role of the corrugated cardboard industry in the supply chain in ensuring the timely delivery of the products produced to the consumer during this period should not be denied. 12 % growth in 2020, especially due to the increasing demands in the food, cleaning-hygiene, pharmaceutical, e-commerce industry The industry, which closed with the same year, grew by 15 % in 2021. In addition, with the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, global paper prices started to increase all over the world.This, along with the exchange rate increase in Turkey, has led to a serious increase in the price of corrugated cardboard boxes." In this context, we were deemed worthy of 2 silver and 2 competence awards with 4 projects in the Crescents and Stars of Packaging competition organized by ASD (Packaging Manufacturers Association) in 2020.
When we asked about his predictions for the near future regarding the industry, domestic and foreign markets, he explained: "I predict that corrugated cardboard packaging production will increase in the world in the coming years and that the per capita consumption of corrugated cardboard will be higher. In recent years, high-scale investments in the corrugated cardboard industry in the country. I think that investments will increase in the coming years and Turkey will have a say in the European corrugated cardboard industry. The increase in domestic corrugated cardboard consumption in the last 10 years has increased more than the growth rate of the Turkish economy. Especially the development of e-commerce and environmental policies all over the world. With the entry into force, the corrugated cardboard industry will take its place among the fastest growing industry in the country and abroad.Considering the increase in consumption globally and the investments made in the industry in Turkey, I predict that the export potential of the industry will increase and it will make a positive contribution to the current account deficit in the coming years." a industry of corrugated cardboard.
